A Little Bite at The Napa Valley Cooking School

Of course I say this tongue in cheek as part of the student’s final grade is to produce a coursed out restaurant style meal. The school’s executive chef is Barbara Alexander, who before starting a family was on her way to becoming one of just a small number of females to certify as a master chef. Chef Alexander also headed the kitchen of what was considered the “French Laundry” of the South Pacific at Paramount Restaurant in Sydney, Australia. Thus you know the curriculum is going to be intense- but hey, what an education!

In the shadows of the CIA Greystone, the Napa Valley Cooking School is a little gem with a small class size and expert instructors that turn out cooks that win the praises of chefs like Ron Seigel and Daniel Boulud. Our ‘little bite’ was an 8 course lunch that would have impressed most restaurateurs, especially coming from students who were working for their grade with a passion that would also land them work in this highly competitive industry. I’ll share our little bite with you and I think you will see why Chef Barbara Alexander and Chef Laura Lee of the Napa Valley Cooking School deserve accolades!
